Every number on this page comes from an open source. Nothing is processed beyond the daily and monthly means we compute ourselves.

Updates. Data is fetched twice a day and goes live with the commit that rebuilds the site. The times at the top show when each source was last read. If a source has not answered for more than 36 hours, the affected part of the page says so.
Named plants. Named plants are shown for nuclear power only, because the nuclear operators publish reactor status themselves. All other production is reported summed and unnamed, as the terms for Nord Pool's urgent market messages require.
Common questions
- Why does the price differ between SE1 and SE4?
- Sweden is split into four price areas. Hydro power and much of the wind power sit in the north, while most consumption is in the south. The transmission grid can only move so much power southwards, and when it reaches that limit each area gets its own price. SE4 is also the area most exposed to prices in Denmark and on the continent. That is why the monthly mean is usually lowest in SE1 and highest in SE4.
- Why does nuclear power matter for prices in SE3 and SE4?
- All six reactors are in SE3, and they cover a large share of production in southern Sweden. When a reactor is offline the power has to come from somewhere else — from hydro in the north through a grid with limited capacity, or from imports. That is why the gap between northern and southern prices often widens during the autumn outage season.
- Why does the price follow the temperature?
- A large share of Swedish consumption is heating. When it gets cold, consumption rises and the most expensive production has to run to cover it. The relationship is clearest as monthly means: a single day is driven just as much by wind and by what happens in the neighbouring countries.
- Do the prices on this page include VAT?
- No. By default the spot price is shown excluding VAT, the same way the exchange quotes it. The incl. VAT button adds 25 percent. Energy tax, the supplier's markup and the grid fee are not part of any number on this page.
