Electricity futures
What the market charges today for power delivered later — month, quarter and year, per price area and for the Nordic system price. A futures price is a bare electricity price for a flat delivery around the clock: the markup, energy tax, VAT and the grid fee come on top, and a household's consumption looks nothing like a flat delivery.

What does the market say about a fixed price?
The futures prices for the coming months, weighted by how a Swedish household with electric heating uses power over the year. That gives a reference value for what the electricity in the period costs on the exchange.

A futures contract prices a flat delivery around the clock. A household uses most of its power when it is cold and the price is high, and the supplier charges for that profile and for the risk that it deviates. A fixed price therefore sits above the reference value — and energy tax, VAT and the grid fee come on top.
Weighting in percent of annual consumption, January to December: 12.5 / 11.5 / 10 / 8 / 6 / 4.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 6 / 8.5 / 11 / 13.5. Months with no month contract of their own are priced from the quarter or year contract that covers them.
